Adult Therapy
Easter Seals Tri-Counties Adult Therapy Services offer a variety of rehabilitation opportunities for adults.
Our facility features an indoor pool measuring 60 feet long and 24 feet wide with depths ranging from 3 to 5 feet The pool is maintained at a therapeutic 94 degrees, which is the ideal temperature for physical therapy.
The Aquatic Center also features state of the art aquatic equipment, including an aquatic treadmill, aquatic stair steppers, aquatic bicycle and a raised platform bench to facilitate lower extremity exercises. A hydraulic chair lift and a water wheelchair with ramp access are also onsite to provide easy accessibility for people who may need additional support.
Our Program
With the Aquatic Center pool kept at a therapeutic 94¡, the buoyancy and warmth of the water helps to decrease muscle and joint pain in order to facilitate muscle relaxation, allowing for greater flexibility and range of motion. Our goal for all of our therapy and fitness clients is to help increase circulation, toning and strengthening, especially those with limited ability to exercise out of the water.
About Aquatic Physical Therapy
Individualized physical therapy in warm water helps decrease pain, enhance muscle relaxation, increase strength and flexibility, expand range of motion and improve circulation. The buoyancy of water reduces the pain associated with the compressive forces of gravity, allowing muscles to work more effectively.
Warm water encourages blood vessels to expand, reducing blood pressure and allowing the heart to function more efficiently during workouts. It is also a great way to work on balance skills, as muscles are constantly at work stabilizing the body, but without fear of falling.
Services are provided by registered physical therapists and supervised physical therapy assistants. A physician's referral and prescription are required. After an initial evaluation, the physical therapist designs a program appropriate to each client's individual needs. At the end of their therapy services, clients are discharged to their own maintenance program which will be continued either at home or in the swimming pool.
