With a prescription from your doctor, your child can receive the occupational, physical and or speech therapy, he or she needs.

Occupational Therapy

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on the functional skills necessary for play and daily life activities. The occupation of young children is to develop their potential through play and exploration of their environment. The Occupational therapist implements strategies to facilitate the child's development in the areas of feeding and oral motor function, fine motor, sensory processing, and visual motor and perceptual skills.

Speech Therapy

A Speech/Language pathologist will work with a child's ability to communicate. Communication includes both speech and language. Speech is the ability to make sounds and to form those sounds into words. It involves the ability to use the muscles in and around the mouth (lips, tongue, cheeks and jaw) to make the sounds. Language includes both verbal and nonverbal (gestures, facial expressions, signs) skills. A speech pathologist will also work on receptive language skills (understanding language) as well as pragmatic (practical use of language) skills.

Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on improving a child's ability to navigate the environment through movement. A physical therapist will analyze the necessary components required to perform a movement such as rolling, crawling, standing and walking etc. and will then design an intervention strategy to facilitate the missing components enabling the child to gain the motor skill. A physical therapist will work on strengthening, endurance, range of motion, balance, coordination and motor planning.

Pediatric Aquatic Physical Therapy

Easter Seals Tri-Counties has a therapeutic warm water pool on site. The temperature, buoyancy and resistance the medium of water provides can be a highly effective treatment modality for some children. We have trained physical therapists and physical therapy assistants to provide this valuable treatment.
