Announcing Easter Seals Tri-Counties Children's Martial Arts Program

Easter Seals Tri-Counties, in partnership with the local Martial Arts Academies, recently announced the addition of the Easter Seals Martial Arts Program, a set of courses designed to teach children of all abilities, specifically those with autism, how to increase body awareness, build core strength and balance, gain self confidence, and develop social skills through group and team settings - while learning basic self-defense skills through various forms of martial arts.

The goal of the Program is to provide an inclusive environment where children will develop motor planning and sequencing skills to enhance balance and coordination. Through the instruction and practice of various martial arts such as judo, aikido, and jiu jitsu, children will participate in adaptive cardiovascular exercises and activities, while also developing self- discipline and self-control through the art of tai chi.
